about

Liftoff began as a couple tracks I made years ago when I was still learning without much intention to make something on the scope of an album (maybe a small EP at most) these tracks got put on hold due to uni stepping in, but most were not abandoned and have ended up on the final version of this release in some for or another.

I found as I wrote more and more that I started writing with a world and story in mind, with locations, characters, and events. This album sort of serves as the "soundtrack" to a mid-season episode of a TV show that doesn't really exist (read below or in the description of each track for more info) which is why I've tried to approximate the final length to around that of a 45 minute episode.

Liftoff - opening title theme, full uncut version. we rejoin Cass (an ex-dealer) and Delta (her android companion) as they head towards Nova, an A.I. housed within a enormous spacestation of the same name, which runs almost every aspect of society on Cass' home planet from banking to policing. The spacestation also acts as a tourist destination of sorts with hotels and entertainment to accompany the view of the nearby planet from space.

Club Shit - our protagonists, following a tip they received from Cass' former boss (harshly interrogated), reach a club in the recreation sector of Nova. their snooping around leads to a messy, violent scene, patrons fleeing as Cass and Delta slip into the station's maintenance shafts.

Nova - in their escape the two stumble into the core of the A.I. Delta breaks protocol and interfaces with it to discover Nova controls the manufacture and distribution of the same illegal substance Cass used to sell. after downloading any evidence they can, the two are scared off by patrolling androids operated by the rogue A.I.

Exfiltration - a tense, stealthy return to the spacestation docking platform is cut short when the two trip a security gate alerting every nearby security officer to their presence. the dock is lit up in gunfire as the two dash for their ship, barely making it out of the station as the airlock shuts behind them. in space, a dogfight between our heroes and Nova security vessels demands the best of Cass' navigation, and Delta's shooting with the ship's turret.

Forensics - we cut away from the action back to the club on Nova as a crime scene investigation unit examines the aftermath of Cass and Delta's escape. scrubbing through security footage, a detective catches sight of a handoff taking place at the club, between a dealer and one of Nova's androids.

Clean Escape - back planetside, Cass and Delta have a rough landing near Cass' garage, her ship now in no state to fly. police, already sent to search the old worn building hear the thud of the vessel landing. the pair rush through the scrap yard until the reach Cass' old motorcycle in good enough condition to lead pursuit to the squadron.

Terminal - the chase moves from outskirts to city as skyscrapers rush past and people dodge out of the way. delta clings to Cass on the back of the motorcycle until a shot rings out, striking him in the back but protecting Cass. knowing he'll soon lose motor function, he lets go, tumbling out of the road before he becomes a dead weight trapping her on the bike.

Recalibration - a gravely wounded Delta drags his shattered body into the shelter of an alleyway as clouds of rain form overhead. attempting to retain power and necessary functions, he enters a sleep state, critical internals rewiring themselves in response to the trauma.

Unleaded - an uncut version of the outro music. Cass, manages to break away from the police chase, taking refuge in a bar operated by her friends. Terrified at the thought of Delta's fate she is comforted by the chime of her PDA, a message from him assuring her he'll survive. Cass explains what they learned to her friends as credits roll.

Thank you for listening and considering purchasing, and I'll catch you next time.
